In 2013 Advancement Project, in collaboration with the Liberty Hill Foundation, won the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's Community Information Challenge to create WeBudgetLA.org, an interactive web-tool and training that makes the L.A. City budget understandable and useful to community advocates.
WeBudgetLA.org is now live! Click here to find information about as well as our take on how the City is doing on the upcoming budget! Our efforts will increase the civic participation of Angelenos in the budget process, especially low income residents and residents of color, by helping them uncover and understand government data that represents the needs of their community.
Our review of Mayor Garcetti's 2014-15 budget proposal shows that there is significant room for improvement regarding city spending towards our high need communities. Click here to download our report card as a PDF.
