National Impact Advancing Opportunity in California, and Across the U.S.
Advancement Project has offices in Los Angeles and Sacramento, California, and a national office in Washington, D.C. Our national office is Advancement Project – a policy, communications, and legal action group committed to racial justice. They develop, encourage, and disseminate innovative ideas, and pioneer models that inspire and mobilize a broad national racial justice movement to achieve universal opportunity and a just democracy.
At the national level, we endeavor to change the public discourse around race through amplifying local issues, while providing replicable tools to racial justice organizations. Locally, we provide support to local racial justice efforts.
Because of Advancement Project’s National Work:
- Elections are more fair and barriers facing voters of color have been reduced.
- Harsh and unfair school discipline practices, such as zero tolerance, that push children off an academic track and onto a track to prison have been reduced.
- Laws that exploit and criminalize immigrants have been reformed.
- Rights of survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have been protected.
