Janice Johannsen currently serves as Development Specialist at Advancement Project. She is responsible for supporting a variety of development and communications activities, including donor prospect research, proposal writing and reporting; special events, direct mail appeals, donor database management, and donor communications. Janice recently moved back to Los Angeles after living in Savannah, Georgia for three years. While there, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA for Step Up Savannah, a poverty-reduction initiative, as Program and Development Associate. Janice also served as president of the Tapulanga Foundation, providing educational assistance to disadvantaged children in the Philippines, while working as a trademark paralegal for Warner Bros. in Burbank. Realizing that her passion lies in making a difference in the lives of others, she is dedicated to pursuing a new career as a nonprofit professional and is currently enrolled with UCLA Extension’s fundraising certificate program. Janice was born and raised in the Philippines but has lived most of her life in Los Angeles. She is happy to be back in sunny California with her husband and two dogs.
